History

Hi West has been created from a mutual desire to revolutionize the hospitality management industry in the UK.

TEAM

BACKGROUND

Hi West Co-founders Kevin McCarthy and Duncan MacArthur met early in their careers at ITT Sheraton. Independently, the two went on to develop their careers with domestic and international brands and owners; re-developing and enhancing hotels and resorts from the Middle-East to the Caribbean.

HOST

ESTABLISHING HOST

Reconnecting in 2013, they realised a mutual desire to innovate the industry - creating a new kind of hospitality management company; one with people at the core.

Having forged similar paths, Duncan and Kevin recognised the benefits of diversifying and enlisted Co-founders Robbie Orr and Mark Bass to join them at HOST.

Robbie and Mark ensured HOST wouldn’t be just another group of hoteliers, but a mature assembly of diverse, market-ready specialists.

GROWING

GROWING THE COMPANY

In 2015, HOST was awarded ‘Preferred Bidder Status’ for the Hinkley Point C Project in Somerset and subsequently won the contract to become official accommodation provider for HPC Contractors.

In 2017, HOST was able to award £50 million worth of sub-contracts to the local supply chain in Somerset. The first campus at Hinkley point was opened on time and on budget in June 2018 providing 510 bedrooms and extensive facilities for HPC Contractors.

The following year, the Sedgemoor Campus was opened on time and on budget, providing a further 986 bedrooms and facilities. The same year HOST was awarded the prestigious HPC Local Supplier of the Year award.

CHALLENGES

CHALLENGES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

In 2019, HOST launched its own online booking portal to further assist HPC Contractors searching for accommodation providers in the local area.

2019 was also the year that HOST successfully attained ISO Accreditation 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 45001.

With the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, HOST Campuses faced enormous challenges as they strived to provide a safe environment for key workers on the HPC project site. Both campuses remained fully operational throughout the pandemic and at full capacity thanks to the vigilance and dedication of the HOST teams.

In 2020, Tim Jones joined HOST as CEO bringing with him a wealth of experience in facilities management to help develop and grow the company further. A world-class management team now supports our board and founding members, united by a singular goal to reinvigorate and reawaken the industry.

Pineapple

Town Houses

In 2021, HOST announced the purchase of the Royal Ashton, a 37-bed town house in the heart of Taunton, Somerset. The three-storey property became the first acquisition by Pineapple Town Houses and was followed by the purchase of The Abbey Town House in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire in 2022.

The group is soon to gain a new property with the forthcoming acquisition of Bendene Town House in Exeter in early 2023. Pineapple Town Houses will continue adding to their portfolio of independent properties becoming known for their welcoming hospitality and excellent locations.

FUTURE
